Frozen Cherry and Vanilla Breakfast Smoothie

As I am writing this post I’m drinking a nice jasmine tea, in the dark, with a few candles lit. I’m seriously in my element, especially with all this rain going on outside. Loving it!

INGREDIENTS

Makes 2 smoothies

1 cup of frozen mango

1 cup of frozen cherries

Half a cup of any Plant-based milk (you may not need to use all of the milk) – Coconut milk would go perfectly with this.

2 tsp of chia seeds

Half a cup of crushed cereal – I used wholegrain wheats with dried raspberries.

1 cup of vanilla soya yogurt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Blend the frozen cherries with 1 tsp of chia seeds and only half of your chosen plant-based milk. It should be creamy and thick but easy to pour, add more milk if needed.
  2. Pour evenly into both glasses and set to cool in the fridge for 5 minutes. (If you’re in a rush you seriously don’t need to do this).
  3. Now blend the frozen mangos with 1 tsp of chia seeds and the rest of the milk. You want the mango to be less creamy/runny and more firm, a bit like ice-cream. So add the milk in a little bit at the time. You might not need to add any at all, depending on the power of your blender.
  4. Pour a thin layer (about 4cm) of vanilla soya yogurt on top of your cherry smoothie in both cups. Layer it with your chosen crushed cereal and then another layer of yogurt.
  5. Top with a few scoops of frozen mango.
  6. Decorate as you like. Done 🙂

First smoothie in ages!

I forced myself to go to my Pilates class the other day after not getting much sleep. Seriously, it was a battle. But, guys, I did it! I promised myself that, afterwards, I’d go home and make a nice smoothie. Because all this cake baking is making me feel extra unhealthy, plus I miss making them. So here it is…

Oh, and I also used prickly pear cactus water instead of plant-based milk, and OMG, it’s the best thing ever! If you haven’t already, you gotta get yourself some and try it ASAP! Click here to buy.

Ingredients

4 tsp crushed almonds

4 mint leaves

1 parsley stem

1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

1 tbsp Hemp seeds

1 1/2 cups cactus water

1 tsp agave syrup

1/4 cup of blueberries

2 pears

1/4 cup of chopped celery

…yes, it’s very random but it’s yummy, I promise! Just chuck it all into a blender.

TIP:

It taste better cold so add a few ice cubes into the blender 😊 x

DRAGON FRUIT and Chia layered smoothie

Firstly, you gotta make sure you check out the Pink Power Tonic by Misty Day Plant Potions. The powder gave this smoothie those beautiful shades of pink and a sweet but refresssshing flavour.

100% VEGAN. 100% Dragon fruit (Pitaya) powder. 100% natural and contains NO sugar. You can add a teaspoon of powder into hot drinks, desserts, smoothies, drinks and baking in general for extra nutrition and colour! I love knowing that I have a completely natural and vegan food colouring for my smoothies. It’s quite pricey for 50g BUT it will last if you use it well and is very much worth it.

Click here to view the product, they also do a range of other tonic powders that help provide energy, detox, calmness and have their own individual benefits.

Half and Avocado

Handful of frozen mango

1 Apple, peeled and chopped into small pieces

1 tablespoons of Maple syrup

1 Tablespoon of Pumpkin seeds

Berries and Mango frozen smoothie

I was in such a summery mood this morning, only because the sun was shining in london…it’s not now. It also lasted only a few hours (so typical), but I did get really excited which led to me making these yummy frozen smoothies. Unfortunately it really is COLD so I couldn’t actually finish them. Hot chocolate would have been so perfect. But here…

VEGAN PROTEIN SMOOTHIES

• DAIRY FREE • GLUTEN FREE • NO SOYA • NO ADDED SUGAR •

Seriously though, don’t you love the idea of having a natural protein shake/smoothie instead of raw eggs, or protein powder that lets be real, you don’t actually know how they’ve made it, no matter how healthy the ingredients may look to you. Plus why not have a tasty smoothie as well as gaining the right amount of protein you need from it??

I had someone suggest that I do a post on this so I literally put my maths to work and managed to put together a few smoothies for you that contain between 25-36 grams of protein. It took quite some time considering that I am the WORST at maths. Just realised, that probably doesn’t make this seem accurate to you guys now, but take my word for it, it is.

I am not one to keep track of all the protein I consume a day, to be honest I couldn’t really care, I probably should though right? Anyway, I’m not one of those people who obsess over the amount of calories etc they have a day, I kind of just listen to my body and see what it needs then and there. But that’s mostly because I know that I have a balanced and healthy diet! A lot of you do keep track and I 10000000% admire that, so this is for you.

Chia, Pineapple and Blackberry ðŸŒ¼

Note to self: NEVER drink coffee on an empty stomach.

I don’t even drink coffee but before making this smoothie, I attempted to make a cinnamon and chocolate latte for you coffee lovers. Yeah, it sounds nice but it really wasn’t. Thought it might have just been me as obviously coffee is not for me, but nope, my mum (who LOOOOVES coffee) also hated it.

Okay so, I currently feel really sick. Coffee does this thing to me where it makes my heart beat really fast. SO FAST! Not sure if that is normal…it doesn’t feel normal.

On a more positive note,

Pineapple and Blackberry combined together taste AMAZING!! You guys have to try it, if you haven’t already.

• The bottom layer is Blackberry

and chia seeds.

• Middle layer is blackberry, chia

seeds and a handful of pineapple

(The pineapple will make the

smoothie go a lighter shade

purple).

• The top layer is just pineapple.

Easy 😌

TIP

Chia seeds help to make smoothies thick enough so that you can layer them. Just add it to the fridge for a few minutes before using it.

‘Budgie Smoothie’ according to my mum…

So it kind of went like this,

Me: “Mum if I wanted to name this smoothie, what would be a good name?”

Mum: “Hmmm, I’m not sure”

Me: whilst holding it and walking next to my budgie: “Omg look, it matches lily(my bird)”

Mum: “That’s it! Name it budgie!”

Me: “No mum that’s weird”

Mum: “Oh shit, you can’t any way, it’s supposed to be vegan”

😂😂😂

This yummy smoothie contains:

• Two large handfuls of Spinach and 1 pear.

• A whole mango with half a banana just to thicken it up so that I can layer both flavours because my blender is absolutely rubbish that it can’t really blend frozen fruit. Should probably invest in one. I much prefer frozen fruit to layer. But the smoothie still tastes quite amazing 😌

• Blend the different layers separately and place in the fridge to thicken and cool before pouring it into your glass.

GRAPEFRUIT and GINGER juice

My mum came home about an hour after I made this, walked into the kitchen, looked at the other half of the grapefruit casually laying on the counter by itself, and laughed. She then said, “WHAT on earth are you doing with that grapefruit Christina? I hope it’s not what I’m thinking” and looked at me in the most dirtiest way. If you’ve seen the movie Girls Trip then you’ll know. We both just burst out laughing.
